TERROIR / ORIGIN

Nancagua, Colchagua Valley, Chile

GRAPE VARIETY

55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Carmenere, 15% Malbec, 5% Syrah.

VITICULTURE

In our Cabernet Sauvignon vineyard, planted before 1942, there are some 160 Malbec vines, called "field blend". These are harvested and vinified separately. Carménère and Syrah grapes are purchased from a winemaker friend with identical quality standards.

HARVEST

50 hl per hectare, strict selection in the vineyard. Manual harvest. 08.04. Malbec, 12.04. Syrah, 22.04. Cabernet S., 28.04. Carménère

Vinification

Fully destemmed by hand. Fermentation in temperature controlled open barrels. Pushdown of the mash three times daily, manually operated vertical press. Vinification 18 months in french barriques:1/3 new, 1/3 one-time usage, 1/3 two-times usage. No fining and no filtration. Estate bottled.

TASTING NOTE

Deep violet-red color. Intense berry aroma on the nose, together with subtle notes of fresh herbs and sweet tobacco. Full volume and compact structure on the palate. The combination of well-proportioned tannins and subtle acidity leads to a pleasant, balanced finish. The ideal accompaniment to tasty meat or pasta dishes, cheese or just on its own.

The grapes for this NAHUEL BLEND come from 4 different, carefully selected lots in the community of Nancagua/Placilla, the heart of the Colchagua Valley, one of Chile's worldwide most renowned wine-growing territories. This Region is blessed with an outstanding climate: summerdays hot and dry, with comfortably refreshing nights thanks to the nearby Pacific Ocean, and mild winters with ample rain. The soils rich of minerals and the total absence of pesticides and herbicides - pure bio-production - offer the best possible conditions for the production of this fruitful, powerful, noble wine.
